In Columbus another unfortunate event took place. A jaguar that was one of the six exotic animals to survive the massive slaughter on October 18th, 2011 died on Sunday morning.
A cage door crushed him in the quarantine area and after reviving him and determining he could not breathe on his own he was euthanized. Extensive testing showed that he had prior injuries and congenital defects to his vertebrae which weakened his neck where he was caught under the door while running between enclosures.
This is such a sad ending to an obviously painful life for this beautiful animal. Jaguar from Ohio Exotic Pet Release Dies originally appeared on About.com Exotic Pets on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 at 20:17:38. Permalink | Comment | Email this |
